Supplies: (many are included if you order the kit at www.MotherGooseTime.com)

  • Clothespin
  • 2 black foam circles stickers (or just draw with black pen)
  • White construction paper
  • Watercolor paints
  • Paint brushes for watercolors
  • Water
  • Containers or cups for the water
  • Newspaper
  • Markers
  • Glue or gluestick.

Adult Preparation:

  • Dragonfly Instruction SheetDownload the instruction sheet from the Art Studio image to the right.
  • Cover table or work surface with newspaper.
  • Fill containers or cups part way with water.
  • Cut apart the sheet of black foam circle stickers so that each child has 2 eyes (skip if you are just going to draw the eyes on).
  • Cut wing shape out of white construction paper.

Activity with Children:

  • Use the markers to decorate your clothespin however desired.
    (Suggestion: you can also use the watercolor paints to decorate your clothespin.)
  • Stick 2 black foam circle stickers to the edge of the clothespin. (Or draw on the eyes.)
  • Use the watercolors and paintbrushes to paint the wings any way desired. As the paper absorbs the paint, watch the colors mix and spread. Allow to dry.
  • Glue the wings to the middle of the clothespin behind the eyes.
