Allow children time to explore textures and materials included with this art project. Remember, it is the process that supports learning, not hte product. Encourage children to make their project their own; all projects do not need to look alike or resemble the graphics. Supplies: - Brown construction paper
- Black tissue paper (or use black construction paper or pen)
- Black construction paper
- Black foam (optional for nose)
- Two google eyes (or draw them on)
- Glue or glue sticks
- Scissors
- Stapler
Adult Preparation:
- Cut dog face shape from brown construction paper. (See downloadable pdf instructions)
- Cut a strip of brown paper the right size to fit around his/her head.
- Cut a nose from black foam or black construction paper.
Activity with Children: - Place the the dog's face over the plain strip and staple together.
- Glue on google eye or draw on eyes.
- Tear black paper into small pieces and glue onto the dog. Repeat until you have used as many pieces as desired.
- Glue on the nose.
- Fold one dog ears over.
Adult Finish: Staple the ends of the headband together (to make a circle) overlapping about 1-inch. Staple together. (Children may need help.)
Reminder: Place any leftover materials in your Scrap Box to use for collage activities.
